Artistic creations of Chris, to commission an icon, and other strict figures and images enhance the dividers and stone coffins in Christian sepulchers tracing all the way back to the primary century.
● Symbols Show us the Essence of God
"Already God, who has neither a body nor a face, totally couldn't be addressed by a picture. In any case, since he has made himself apparent in the tissue and has lived with men, I can picture what I have seen of God . . . furthermore, think about the wonder of the Ruler, his face disclosed." (CCC 1159, citing St. John Damascene) "Israel of old didn't see God, however we see the Ruler's greatness up close and personal." (On Sacred Pictures, St. John Damascene)
● To commission an icon Affirms that Matter is Acceptable
"Try not to disregard matters! It's anything but without honor. In vain that comes from God is without honor." (On Heavenly Pictures, St. John Damascene) "Purple without help from anyone else is basic, as is silk and the shroud which is made of both. In any case, if the ruler put it on, the shroud gets honor from the honor because of the wearer. So it is an issue.
