Bright stones,
lively wall paintings, intricately carved ivory and gold mosaics sums up Byzantine art. The combination of
eastern and classic western art tells the story of the Gospel and
Old Testament in a unique manner. It makes an onlooker spellbound while feeling a deeper relationship with God. Each
element in an Icon carries immense reason to convey the qualities of the saint
depicted. That depiction encourages an onlooker to go nearer to God in prayer
daily. The real realization awakens the thought that we are boarded on a paper
boat and worried for the future is a purely foolish act.
The Byzantine Empire inherited the
ideas from the classical world of Greece and Rome. A movement from classical tradition towards the more abstract and universal them
paved a way to two-dimensional representations. We all agree that artworks
that contain a religious message predominate. A visual symbolic language steals the show without any
extra effort to it. The style that began in the 6th century has been
adopted for making out Byzantine Icon panels for
several churches. Byzantine art leaves an amazing impression in the mind
that no one can ignore the divine power present everywhere.
